PRIMARY & PE SPORTS PREMIUM

The Primary PE and Sport Premium is government funding provided to primary schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE, sport and physical activity for all pupils.

At St Ives Junior School, we believe that high-quality PE, sport and regular physical activity play an important part in helping our children to be healthy, active, resilient, empathetic, ambitious and independent.

During 2026–27, we will use our PE and Sport Premium to build on our existing provision, increase opportunities for pupils to be physically active and participate in sport, and further develop staff confidence, knowledge and skills in delivering high-quality PE.

Our work will focus on the five key indicators:

  • increasing staff confidence, knowledge and skills in teaching PE and sport;
  • increasing engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity and sport;
  • raising the profile of PE and sport across the school;
  • providing a broader experience of a range of sports and physical activities; and
  • increasing participation in competitive sport.

Our 2026–27 PE & Sport Premium expenditure and impact report will be published by 31 July 2027, in accordance with Department for Education requirements.
Our 2025–26 expenditure and impact report is available below and shows how the funding was used, the impact it had on our pupils and how improvements will be sustained.

The impact on PE, school sport and physical activity is measured against the 5 indicators:

Sports Funding

Accountability & Impact – Ofsted inspectors will assess and report on how effectively this new funding is being used when making the judgement on the quality of the school’s leadership and management. • the amount of premium received
  • a full breakdown of how it has been spent (or will be spent)

  • how the improvements will be sustainable in the future
