REMOTE LEARNING
Remote Learning Contingency Plan for Parents
There may be occasions when pupils are unable to attend school due to exceptional circumstances or school closure.
Whilst learning in school provides the richest experience, we are committed to ensuring continuity of education where attendance is not possible.
If a pupil is unable to attend for a short period due to exceptional circumstances, teachers will provide access to appropriate learning to minimise disruption and support continued progress. In the event of a longer absence or wider school closure, structured remote learning will be provided.
We recognise that family circumstances differ and will work with parents and carers to support engagement with remote learning wherever possible. School staff will be available to provide guidance and individual support where needed.
Google Classroom
Google Classroom is the platform which we use at SIJS to assign and complete activities for home learning. It was used extensively during lockdown to ensure pupils were able to continue with their learning in a ‘virtual classroom’ environment.

It’s recommended to use a computer or tablet instead of a mobile phone which is difficult to use with a small screen. If your child is using a tablet, they are also able to use the Google Classroom app from either the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
We’ve put together a brief guide to using Google Classroom, if you would like more help:
