ABOUT THE SCHOOL

St Ives Junior School is a welcoming and inclusive junior school for children aged 7–11, situated in a beautiful location overlooking St Ives Bay on the north coast of Cornwall.

Our school has been at the heart of the St Ives community for many years. We are proud of our strong local identity and make the most of our unique surroundings, rich heritage and vibrant community to enhance pupils’ learning and experiences.

Our vision is:
“Together, we thrive in a nurturing, inspiring community. Together, we learn to succeed in an ever-changing world.”

Our motto, “Learning Together, Free to Fly,” reflects our ambition for every child to feel safe, included and supported while developing the confidence, knowledge and skills they need to succeed.

Our Community
Most children join us in Year 3 from the neighbouring St Ives Infant and Nursery School, although we warmly welcome children joining us from other schools and areas. At the end of Year 6, many pupils continue their education at St Ives School.
We value our strong relationships with families and the wider community and believe that children achieve their best when school and home work together.

Pupil Voice
Our pupils play an important part in school life. Through our pupil leadership opportunities, children are encouraged to share their views, contribute ideas and help us make our school even better.

We want every child to know that their voice matters and that they can make a positive contribution to their school and community.

Our School Team
Our School Administrator, Mr James Moon, is based in the school office and is happy to help families with general enquiries.

Our Site Supervisor, Mr Brian Gurr, helps to ensure that our school building and grounds are safe, welcoming and well maintained.

Healthy Schools
We encourage pupils to develop healthy habits throughout their time with us. Fresh drinking water is available during the school day, and we encourage children to bring fruit or another healthy option for their mid-morning snack.

Children may have a school meal or bring a packed lunch from home. Further information about school meals, including current menus and charges, is available on our website.

Come and Explore
We are very proud of our school and the wonderful environment in which our children learn.
